Communicate to children that you love and adore them fully. We do that with more than words, which is the least way but still important. We need to find ways and words to let our children know that they are unconditionally loved. Care for them even when you forget how. So remind them: "When I forgot in this way or in that way, my unconditional love for you is really what it is about." Make sure that this is the reference point they have when you give up this day, that you can rest well, knowing the children know you love them. If you ever attempt to let go of this day and consider, "I don't know if they really know I love them," consider how you can get your love to them in some way. One of the things that I have learned how to do in the process of discovering how parenting works is to take myself off any idea that I'm in a superior position. One of the mistakes I've found with myself and other parents is that we somehow consider, "I'm supposed to know here. I'm the one who knows. I'm the authority here. I'm the one in charge. I'm the one in control because I said so." I think we are in a position to temper that whole thing so that we are aware of a divinely guiding conscience and consciousness such that we are placed in a position to lead and to conduct the direction and the order of the family. It is our turn in a way. And as it is our turn, then it is a great responsibility to do it in a consciousness that respects who the people in the family are rather than imposes my standards, my conditioning, my wants as though, "Well, because I have the position of leadership here, we are going to do it my way." That's not really the correct way to lead in the family. The correct way is, "What's going to serve us here?" That has a relative order to it that goes according to who has greatest need. There is a tribe in Africa that captures monkeys by having the monkey grab a salt rock through a small opening of a termite mound. The monkeys would get captured because they would not let go of the salt rock and move to freedom. Living in limited beliefs can bring results you likely do not want. If you are having difficulties in a relationship, look at whether you are trying to control the person and wanting them to be different than they are. Set them free, allow them to behave the way they behave. It is not your place to interfere with their life expression as much as it is your place to not allow interference to your life expression. Have you considered that this is a test for you? Have you considered how you would pass the test? Look for the living truth. Relax and be patient as you experience the living truth. We work with what is present. Move into the aspect of the present - the transcendent present - getting beyond the obvious and the mundane to that which is the greater reality which exists in Spirit. What's on this side in the world? Often limiting beliefs, attitudes, positions, etc., that our parents and others gave to us. Baby elephants in the circus were tied to wooden stakes so they could not get away. As the elephants matured, they would still be tied to the stake even though they had outgrown it in strength and could easily have pulled up the stake if they tried. We are not bound by the past.
